From personal experience, I think that by far the most difficult part about being a ful-time parent devoted to full-time study is how to organise your time. I mean how do you balance the needs of your family/kids with the demands of a degree in medicine. For me that is the most daunting question that I keep asking myself.
I want to be able to devote good quality time to my kids, I don't want them suffering because I want to pursue a demanding, yet rewarding career.
At the moment I am trying to plan out the next couple of years in the best way I can, such as arranging childcare, negotiating with hubby about how much time he can spend with kids etc.
Are there any parents in med school who have the answers??
Yes I am hoping that too but it seems unlikely, although you're right possibly a lot of the people who land offers will end up declining.
