Hello Dr. Veryniceman! Congratulations on becoming a dad. It must be a very exciting time for you and your wife. My hubbie was completing his PhD when we had our first child and I was in my final her undegrad degree. We managed fine, still do. We're on baby number three now!!! But that's where it's going to stop!! I think I've made my contribution to the worlds population!
Babies do turn your life around I must say. And for me it's changed my prospective on life. Kids have a lovely way of making you see the goodness in life in a way adults can't. You also learn to be incredibly patient when you become a parent.....alll those lovely late nights with your newborn will be good practice for your night-shifts!!!

    Hello there,
I'm Freda, mummy of 2 horrid teenagers. Douglas is 17 and Alexander is 14...yuk! Bring back the jelly and ice cream andyday! Now it's all driving lessons, A2s, GCSEs, girls, spots, alcohol ( that's me too) and dirty clothes!!!
I have BSc Anatomy from Aberdeen 1981 so a bit long in the tooth. Also have PGCE and I taught for many years BUT always wanted to do medicine.
It was never possible before as husband was in RAF so we were always on the move. Recently we have stayed in one place and the chance came again to go for med school. ( I did apply when I was 30 and was told firmly that I was too old but that was 13 years ago and things have changed thank God)
I applied for 4 GEP last year and rather like Fluffy decided it was a big mistake!
Missed Gamsat cut off for Georges by 1 mark and would have got into PMS with my score but hadn't applied here.....
SO here we go again. I am now doing just the final year at Oxford Brookes Human Biology just to bring me up to speed.
Have applied this year to SGHMS & PMS (grimsat) and LWMS and Druham.
Filled in SAF for Warwick and had card form SGHMS but nothing from either Durham or PMS.
Husband is very supportive but I don't think he would have been when our kids were younger! Perhaps he has mellowed with age.... Boys think is it great that I am at Uni now and think it will be great if I get in. Douglas thinks I am a bit mad to WANT to study as he can't wait to leave school and have a gap year before going to uni.
I think this is a good idea to have a parents forum; most of our dilemmas are so alien to 18 year olds.
    all the best
    Freda

Sat it last year at SGHMS on a cold and snowy Friday in January, oh I mean this year!! It feels like years ago! it was a L O N G and tiring day. When I finished a rushed to Paddington to get the train home, just got on by the skin of my teeth then got fined £10 for not buying a ticket!! I just cried and cried and all the emotion of the day poured out!! Then a very nice elderly gentleman came up and offered to pay the fine for me.... was I embarrassed!!!!
Got home and remember drinking HUGE G & T in one go......

Did you know that is valid for 2 years? You wrote that you got enough to get into PMS, have you used that grade for entry?

Do you know, I hadn't even thought that they might consider last years' score as I imagined that they would use the new cut off after this year's exam. Maybe I should give them a ring!!!!! Thanks for that!!

    ok, here's the story,
Last year the cut off was 50 and this year they are thinking it will be more likely be nearer 55.
Now, I have already got that BUT they won't look at my application till after the exam!!
SO... as I have already applied and spent my £175 I suppose I'd better do it again and hope that I get more this time and then I'll get a choice of either PMS or SGHMS.
Wouldn't it be awful if I got less......???????

I doubt it. I'm sure you will be fine.

    I hate exams.
