    Calling all moms and dads.....

    Hi Everyone,

Seeing as there are loads of people out there with kids who are applying to/already in med school, then I thought it may be a good idea to set up a forum/discussion posting for us.

There are alot of issues/challenges that moms and dads face when embarking on a career in medicine......childcare, spouse, work, finances, relocation, finding time to spend with your family etc....and many many more.

It would be great if we could all put our heads together and share experiences, pass on advice.

    What do you think?

Moderators.....Can we start a new forum on this subject???

    Hello Fluffy,

Thanks for that, but actually it was I (Jenna) who started that post. Decided to change my username, but after endless attempts to change my profile I had to register again. Sorry for the confusion.

Although discussion postings are brilliant, I just feel that after some time the topic in discussion fizzles out via the postings route. I really wanted to know if there was any way of setting up a new forum that specifically addresses the subject of parents in medicine.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that, if so just ignore me...I'll just keep posting!!

    What do the others think?

I mean that info on discussion posting often gets fragmented and lost over time.

I with you on this one Jenna/Betty Boop! Being a Mother myself it would be good to start up a forum especially for parents. What about asking Admin to start up a private one?

Yes that's a good idea, Fluffy. I'll e-mail them today.

Tangliss, I know what you're going through. I've got one kid going through the terrible twos, and an other going through the 'just when you think it's all over' terrible three and a half. At the moment they fight alot, so in between my studies I'm also refereeing.....Lovely! I'm looking forward to the teenage phase, Bufforpington, when I can get to be a real referee, with real lifesize teenagers!!

I'm glad you all agree about a forum for us moms (and dads of course). I know at loads of parents studying/studying for medicine. It'll be great to be able to meet together in one forum where we can share our experiences about balancing mother/fatherhood with a career in medicine.

I'll let you guys know how it goes with admin.
