    Question Surgery?

How much surgery does a paediatrician do?

I know that there are paediatric surgeons but I was planning on aiming to become a general paediatrician or neonatologist. Does this mean that there will be little/no surgery?

    No surgery.

Paediatric surgeons have a completely seperate training pathway to paediatricians.

    Okay, thanks James.

So the only surgery will be at medical school then?

(not sure whether this is a good or bad thing yet)

Are paediatric surgeons general surgeons who have completed further training? Or can you train in paediatric surgery as you can in say, plastic surgery?

That should answer some questions. Worth noting that information tends to be a few clicks away...
