EU Candidates
As you can see I am student from EU. I was just wondering how many EU students are in oxford (I guess not too many)?
Also, does anyone have any statistics about EU candidates at Ox? How many have applied there, their average score etc.2011 Applicant

I was looking for the same thing and couldn't find anything. From this year onward if you don't have GCSEs (as most EU applicants) then you'll be shortlisted for interview automatically based on the BMAT alone. Previously they had to specifically select you.

This sounds well, i.e. shortlisting based on BMAT alone. What's the reason for this though. Are there other unis doing the same thing?

Other unis have different short-listing mechanisms so it isn't applicable. The reason? Well the previous system discarded most eu candidates if they didn't have a good PS. It might have been unfair.

I thought it's because many EU candidates have qualifications other than A-level/IB/SQA etc. [as it is in my case]

Well that wouldn't make much sense since they don't use A-levels to shortlist, they use GCSEs, which are equivalent to IB MYP or whatever you've been doing before IB/A-level/SQA. Anyway, you need a BMAT in the top 30% now to get an interview, which is pretty nice. Something like 6/6/9 should most certainly do. Also the first 2 sections are weighted 40% and the last one is 20%.

So, this BMAT shortlisting, is it better or worse from an EU applicant's point of view?
Btw, if you don't mind me asking, Nathanael, what country are you from? Are you applying for 2011?2011 Applicant
