Hey I'm a 2nd year undergraduate doing Biological Sciences, I was wondering if oxford will disregard your application if you didn't do so great in the first year (53%), I didn't realise that the uni would askfor a transcript and so assumed that first year didn't count, I'm hoping to get a 1st in my end of year exams this year but I'm not sure how the first year exams will affect my predicted grades like if i get 75% say this year then will that be 64% overall?
How much do Oxford look at the first year results, it woud be helpful if some students there cud help..
I'm hoping to get mid-700s, minimum 700 on my ukcat as I did it before in 2007; has it changed much since?
I'm not sure anyone on here is necessarily going to be able to answer your question reliably - possibly would be best to ask of the university directly?
Whatever the outcome, I think you should still prepare to be asked the question "why are your first year marks so low?". The answer "I didn't think they would count" won't really be a particularly satisfying one - first year marks never count towards the final degree, but that doesn't mean that the first year material is unimportant and should be neglected. It's the foundation upon which the rest of your degree is built, so achieving low marks sets quite a poor precedent. Oxford, as a very academic institution, will be interested in knowing why you didn't work harder purely for interest in your subject. Are final degree marks your only motivation for study?

By the looks of other reapplicants it seems retaking the ukcat can cause your score to jump 50 points. So we should be fine reapplying to warwick next year. It's just annoying we have to wait another...
He apologized but I really should have! So far I've only heard about rejections probably means they are giving out their offers later. Imperial was kind of my first choice because it's very good and...
