Hi everyone,
I am an international student. I was wondering how many places are available on the GEM for international students?
I made my application with these stats..
I am getting a 1st from Cambridge in Natural Sciences, topped my cohort in my first and second years, received quite a number of prizes and scholarships. Spent 2 summers on various research scholarships. UKCAT of 780, for the 3 referees they come from 2 world renowned medical professors and the last from the director of cancer research uk charity for my 1 and a half years of volunteering with them.
I know my application stands a very good chance but like always as an international student doubt my chances much.

Also, on a positive note for you internationals, at my Oxford GEM open day someone asked how many spots they have for international students and the man said "as many as we want". i know there's government set quotas on foreign medics but i don't think they do it in the way e.g. we have 2 international spots, who gets them.

no they don't, neither do Cambridge for internationals (their MB PhD is for locals). It works by putting PhD and a medical degree together, justifying the reason why I want to do it this way. If they are happy they will say yes.
Coz I want to do my PhD somewhere else (probably in an institute) so I need the medical school to be positive about students leaving their studies for 3,4,5 years. There aren't a lot of them really.
I got a positive response from the GEP admission tutor, will confirm again if I receive an interview. Then I will get finger crossed to for things to work.2005: MBChB Medical Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Quitted)
2005-2010: MSci Biochemistry with a Year in Industry/Research, Imperial College London
2010- ? : MBBS Medicine, Imperial College London
