    Oxford Medicine Applicants 2010

Hey, I thought a thread should be started for oxford applicants 2010. I am sending my UCAS away tom and really nervous. Made an open application to oxford and struggling with the BMAT. I feel I just wasted a space because oxford is so beyond my ability (well seems to me atleast ) Feel free to post what college your applying to and how ur bmat is coming along.

Gud luck everyone, cant believe this stage has finally come

Umm i am also applying to Sheffield, UCL (another bmat uni and Birmingham!
Hopefully i'll get into one no matter what
but i've also applied for biomedicine at newcastle incase ..but obviously i'd much rather do medicine!

Grades wise i am okay, got A's at AS level except critical thinking :S...
and good gcse's too, but i think this bmat could be make or break, and of course the dreaded interview . I have no idea how the interview works either...stressfull times haha. Hws about yourself?

Hi, i'm applying to balliol, i'm really freaking out about how competitive it will all be, especially with the emphasis on the bmat (not going too well at the moment) i mean, i can write a mini-essay in a-level french no problem and it will be pretty ok, but i generally dont string more than 2 coherent sentences together in english...

i did standard grade so I HAVE TO BE in the top 40% whereas you guys did GCSEs so obv the % thing about how many GCSEs you get at A grade I think. So I should be worrying more and buchaneyes now that I see your UKCAT score of 750, I feel I wasted a space by applying to Edinburgh with a crappy score of 655 wht were your GCSEs guys? What BMAT score do you need to get shortlisted?

    my gcses were 9.5 a* 2a 1 b (business studies)

on the oxford website, it says they use % a* (not sure how that converts for standard grade) and bmat, and the average applicant has 75% a* so the bmat is actually really important, especially if, like mine your gcse results linger around that average percentage

NB 655 is NOT crappy, i can't remember the stats exactly, but its about 1 sd from the mean, so top 15%

    Hey guys I'm applying too!
I have 92% A* at GCSE so hopefully I won't need an amazing BMAT to get an interview!

I am finding the questions awfully tricky sometimes.
