Another GEC question - Oxford Application Form

Just a question for those on - or applying to - the Oxford GEM course. The additional Oxford Application Form asks applicants to submit a statement about why they want to study medicine - on just one side of A4. Well funnily enough that's what I've been doing for the last few months on my UCAS form!

Are they expecting us to provide another copy of our personal statement or are they hoping we might write it out differently? All advice welcome!! Thanks!

As I recall I wrote another statement particularly targetted at their course and their entrance criteria.

I was told to make it specific to Oxford. They're already going to receive your Personal Statement which is geared to all your choices, so put why the Oxford course attracts you, why you think the tutorial system suits you, the collegiate atmosphere etc. and how all of this will make you a better doctor .... or something..

    Hi people,

I wrote mine about a week ago and targetted it more at Oxford, saying that I liked the look of the course, I thought that the tutorial system was an advantage, and hopefully other stuff that showed that I knew a bit about the Oxford way of doing things. I thought that was important because I'm not from an Oxbridge background, so I didn't want them to think I thought this course was the same as any other med course.

What I am worried about is the "detailed transcript of your degree". I don't think I've got one. I graduated from my BSc in 1994 - I can't remember getting anything apart from the certificate. My PhD graduation was in 1999. I could send them my whole thesis I suppose.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Cheers,

    Nick.

Normally you have to contact your old Uni and ask for a transcript, and maybe pay for it.
