Any insider's views on the Health Science/Medical course?

Hello!

I'm interested in applying to the Health Science course to gain entry into the 'professional courses' in the 2nd year. But I was wondering what the level of the competition is like amongst the Otago students. In my head currently I'm imagining students being mostly uncooperative to each other and trying to constantly pull someone down so they can gain the upper hand since places are extremely limited (I'm an international student btw). I'm sorry if I'm offending any actual Otago students or people in general! But so this is why I'm posting to get the real facts.
