Super tendons!(?)
What do you think of this one folks?
An old friend of mine tells me that a 'notch' he has running over the medial end of his clavicle and across the articular surface of the SC joint has been caused by a tendon wearing away the bone.
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? If so please let me know.

My opinion is based on no research whatsoever, however I would imagine that the tendon would wear away before the bone. I'm also having trouble thinking of any tendon that runs over the clavicle, most insert onto the bone itself. Saying that I haven't studied head an neck or thoracic anatomy for a couple of years...

I cant think of any actual tendon that runs over the clavicle itself. The only thing that comes to mind in that area, that lies at the SC joint is the sternal head of Sternocleidomastoid muscle which originates from the upper part of the manubrium sterni joint? hope this helps (a little)

Apparently he had an easily reproducible posterior dislocation of the sc joint and an attempt was made to stabilise it with the H Jackson Burrows tenodesis of the subclavious muscle. This involved drilling 2 holes in the clavicle at right angles to each other in the same parasagital plane as the origin of the subcavious tendon, dividing the tendon from the muscle passing it through the 'L' shaped canal formed by the drill holes and grafting the tendon to itself. From what little I know all this would have taken place outside of the sc joint capsule and the notch he claims was caused by the tendon used wearing away the bone is most definately inside the joint capsule.
I have some snap shots of his clavicle from a 3D CT if anyone would like a look at it.
