    Bodies - oh my goodness!

Someone recommended the BBC TV series 'Bodies' to me as someone who's hoping to go into medicine (specifically obs and gynae).

    It's pretty intense!

Has anyone seen it? What are people's thoughts who are in the field?

    Cheers

    Bodies is absolutely amazing!

It's based on a book by Jed Mercurio, who trained as a doctor. It's supposedly about his experience of the NHS - I.E. malpractice, whistleblowing etc. Really good watch, I also think Keith allen makes it even more so.

Jed Mercurio did another TV series called cardiac arrest. It is a little out of date now (from the 80's) but most current doctors consider it to be the most realistic TV doctor drama ever produced.

Am enjoying it - amused by something in episode 1.3:

A&E guy explaining to the doctor about the drunk guy that's just been admitted with a bloody nose:

"This gentleman is PFO, possibly PGT and PDE."

The patient asks what PFO is... the doctor is unusually candid:

"PFO - pissed fell over, PGT - pissed got thumped, PDE - pissed denies everything".

I *so* want these to be true but they probably aren't.

(Good to get a bit of brevity as it's all pretty harrowing - possibly moreso as have seen some real life situations not dissimilar.)

    Cheers

i bought the boxset last year and got completely hooked to Cardiac Arrest - makes you feel good to not be doing rediculous hours as they did in the past.

but seriously, it hard hitting stuff and a bit of a reality check!

wish they'd do an up to date version - or at least tell us the result of the cliff hanger ending in the very last episode!!!!

We got a talking to about how we shouldn't use those as it could lead to potential 'I want the ground to swallow me now' situation in court.
