Hi, slightly trivial post here but I have been looking into O&G and it seems that half of the (male) consultants adopt the title Dr whereas half are Mr. The same pattern occurs with female consultants in the speciality. What are the reasons for this?
Mr's, Miss, Mrs etc usually have MRCS qualification as well as MRCOG. MRCOG designates as Dr, the surgical qualification allows them to be Mr/Miss. You will also possibly note that it is usually (although not always) the older consultants who are Mr/Miss etc although anyone who first trained in surgery before O&G specialisation could be Mr/Miss. Thise who have not tend to be Dr as just passed through O&G training. No difference in practice of O&G.
