Looks like we're in the same position Pete - hopefully there is safety in numbers! I'd appreciate if you let us know how that phone call tomorrow goes. It's possible that we are in the group of people at the bottom of the waiting list with low interview scores but high GAMSATs, after they used up all the good interview scores. Did your interview go badly? It's all relative to others but I'm a bit surprised that I didn't score better than a 3 for any sections.
As for factor number one, given that Nottingham is the last to interview I'm worried that people wouldn't put themselves through it if Nottingham wasn't their first choice. But maybe people pull out of GEM altogether when they realise how much it costs, get a good non-GEM offer, or just get cold feet (as in the past offers have been made up to one day before the start of term).

by any chance could you let me know what you did for work experience as I got all 1s in the interview feedback and then a 5 for work experince, I have done a year at a special needs shool, helped at a hospital in africa, 5 weeks of shadowing, volunteer for marie curie and have took part in mentoring projects. So I would just really like to know how i can improve my experience as I didnt think I deserved to get a 5 but it seems that other people must have more. So any advice for me fo next year, as if the wait list is done on gamsat I will literally be number 39.
    Thanks guys x

I got 1,1,1,2,3 and a 5 for work experience. I'm surprised you didn't get an offer with those scores, they must use the gamsat score more than I'd thought. I also didn't think I deserved a 5 but who knows, i don't have hospital experience other than as a patient coz its impossible to get, just care work. I guess if you don't get in its worth trying to do better on gamsat, and mention your experience more in the interview - I did think there wasn't much chance to talk about what you've done. Good luck

    hey all!

I got an average of 3 on my interview (3 x 3 and 3 x 4) from my interview and was disappointed and got 66 on the gamsat and was rejected so maybe your higher gamsat makes up for the interview differences

    Confused

I'm in the same boat, relatively low interview, high GAMSAT. 3.33 avg on interview. 66 on GAMSAT, 67 if you round up.

Is everyone going to the open day? It feels strange going if you not even sure if you are ever going to get in. It will be interesting to hear how they rank the waiting list. I have now obsessively read most of the posts from last years waiting list crew.

One thing that I don't understand from the infamous Sarb email (that everyone got the same interview score and therefore they would use the GAMSAT to rank people on the waiting list), is how 40 something people received the same interview score. Is it just me or does anyone else find that a little unbelievable? Just based on the interview scores that have been posted online, people who are the waiting list have interview scores ranging from 1s to 4s.

The other thing that was mentioned in the 2011 posts, was that it was raw GAMSAT scores that were used to rank people, not average scores. Does this make any difference? I have a relatively even score. My raw score would put me at 200. I assume that using a raw score helps people whose average GAMSAT score was brought down by one section?

Counting the hours till we all find out how this waiting list was constructed.

Well I got an email from Sarb and she said it is ordered by GAMSAT. So that is good news for quite a few of you. Not good news at all for me. Definitely losing hope now...

    Hi gemzlouise

About the work experience thing, its crazy it seems. Iv worked as a HCA for over 3 years, 1.5 year of that full time. I currently work in clinical research (which they dont know about, granted) and I got a 3 for work experience. I did take every opportunity to mention my experience at interview but didnt make a difference. Iv worked on every single ward, at all time of the day and night. Feel like I wasted my time, with regard to my score anyway, loved doing it!
