Living on campus is great! (even if the food isn't so great sometimes..)
If you want to be close to the QMC, go for Hu Stu or Cripps (I'm in Hu Stu), but if I were reapplying I'd go for Lenton & Wortley or Derby! Lincoln's around there too, they're all pretty close to the med school. Don't go to Rutland

I was in Cripps, and it was pretty awesome, if a little cliquey the year I was there.
The rooms are the biggest though I think... And we had cupboards that were lockable, so we could actually leave stuff in them during the holidays.
It was also really pretty
And the formals were fuuuun!
My advice would be go near the QMC. I chose my halls in order of distance away, so Cripps, Hu Stu, Lenton & Wortley and Derby were my choices. Tbh you'll make friends whichever hall you end up in (perhaps even more so in Rutland ... I imagine all the other halls bullying you makes you a more close knit group!) If you go to a hall like Florence Boot or Willoughby, you'll still make great friends, but getting to lectures is a lot more effort, so if you have a random one at the end of the day, you might not always make it...

Stay away from anything on Jubilee campus- I was in self-catered near there. The walk to the QMC was *grim* in the winter and the shuttle bus was packed, the surrounding area's a bit ropey (people broke into our compound), and you're still not very close to the city centre despite being far from the main campus. Also, you mainly get business students there because it's that's where their lectures are, so you're unlikely to be with people from your course.
This more than five years ago though, so things might have changed...

The info has been useful as i am considering which halls to apply to. Are the room sizes in ensuite smaller than a room sharing a bathroom down the corridor?.
