basically show that you are motivated (by the way you say you're answers, work experiences..etc) and for empathy just relate things back to you're work experience and that you understand how they felt...etc. If you are unsure of the meaning google it...It wil help you a lot to know the different meanings of empathy.

I have heard they ask a lot of ethical questions and scenarios. Also i have heard that the interview is hard i.e. the interviews try and put you of by yawning, not looking at you..etc. So beware that doesn't distract you.

Sorry can't speak from my experience i am still waiting for a reply from them.

    bigsmall,

the nottingham interview can be an easy interview. when i did it, they asked the standard 'why medicine, why nottingham' questions, which im sure you'll be fine with. a few people in my interview were asked to define the difference between empathy and sympathy, and others were asked about certain aspects of their personal statement. (e.g. about a book they had put in it that inspired them to do medicine). i think that part is quite standard of all medical interviews.

ethical questions definitely are a possibility. i got asked one, where the interviewer acted as an obese smoker requesting heart bypass. she asked me to be the doctor and say what i'd say to this patient. it would be worth reading up on the 4 ethical principles if you haven't already. these apply to any debatable scenario.

i think any advice you get is good, but ultimately the interview is testing your communication skills, and how you deal with situations on your feet. it's always good to remember that for any issue up for debate, it's always wise to give the counterargument.

hope you do well, all the best

i guess it depends on the interview, everyone has different experiences. but they do read your ps in detail and pick on things if they are unclear/interesting. i am sure you have good communication skills, which is definitely what they look at most in undergrad interview.

notts is a well respected medschool and great city to study in, but everyone will say the same about their unis. it's important for you to visit the place, and make your own mind up. if you already know that it's your first choice, then it's unlikely you'll change your mind. i certainly thought campus life (which is limited to only first year, although you can stay if you want to for later years) was absolutely incredible.

medicine at notts is slightly different from other schools in that you do the compulsory intercalated BMedSci - many people think that this is a waste of time as it pulls time away from clinicals, but personally i gained a lot from it; a publication, presentation, and an award. this definitely helped in my foundation training application.

i wish you all the best, and any other questions don't hesitate to ask!
