Thanks for the info ^^.
Does anyone know if they'll be using the standard panel approach or MMI? Someone posted something about rumours they'd be using MMI!FYI: Clicking on my name to the left leads to the wrong profile - d'oh!

They mentioned something about it at the open day but that was for 2011 entrry. Believe they mentioned the possible change but don't think it was 2010 entry. I would await a date and will prob come with all info required!

Hi all
I'm applying for Notts GEM 2010 - i have been reading this site for ages and found it so helpful felt i should finally post. Especially as I am getting so frustrated not getting my Notts interview date yet - i really though we would have had them by the end of last week. Anyone received theirs yet? HATE the waiting!! Especially as it's the only place i'm applying so no other distractions........just the waiting.

Just wondering if anyone knows roughly how many offers they give out for the Notts Gem course. I know they interview around 250 for the 90ish places, but obviously they must give out more offers as some will not accept.....anyone know that stats?

Its usually about a 3:1 chance of an offer if you get to the interview stage, I can't remember the exact numbers of offers they give out. Also, last year they gave out quite a few waiting list places, and many of them also got a place.

I would imagine that no matter what type of interview structure, you'll still be asked the same types of questions albeit in a different format. So for example, you are bound to get a "why do you want to be a doctor?". That's just a standard question no matter WHERE you apply. A big thing now, especially at Nottingham, is empathy so be prepared to answer questions on that as well as issues to do with Fitness to Practice. Something they terrified us with in the first few weeks are professionalism in medicine so try and have a few ideas about what that means to you. Make sure you know about the course, for example Nottingham GEM is a PBL based course (like in many other places) so make sure you a) know what PBL is and b) why you think it would work for YOU.
I hasten to add these are in no way hints specific to the interview at Notts, I've got no idea what the questions will be. These are simply the types of qualities that most medical schools will be looking for in a future student... hell, it's what most people would look for in their doctor! And this is the key, think about what makes a good doctor and think what YOU have that match that.
Good luck!BSc Applied Biomedical Science (LJMU)
