I'm bored, where is everyone?
Am I the only one who is stuck here in work wishing I could have a few weeks off to do something exciting? I wonder what everyone else is doing for the summer. People have just stopped posting in here, its boring - there is no suspense of waiting for offers, no talking about gamsat results or interviews, nothing.

So if anyone is here lurking, post and give me something to read - you can't expect me to actually work can you??

At least you're still working! I've had a few weeks off now since the contract on my previous job ended (fixed-term), at first the time off was great - although now I'm just really really bored! All I've got to keep myself busy is a bit of casual work for the university I used to work for (I do basic health assessments at community events, and get to tell unhealthy people to go and see their doctors!).
Aside from that, all I've managed to do is sort out a house in Derby and try and think of anything I need to get for September. Are you all prepared?!NOTTINGHAM GEM 09

I have a week and a bit left of work. My summer plans are playing with children, having an extension built, and trying to avoid swine flu (first confirmed case at school today). My fever of over-excitement continues (was singing "I am going to be a doctor" to the tune of the Tweenies this morning!!)
Is anyone doing any prep work for the course?Sam

I leave my job at the end of July. I'm currently trying to convince myself not to book a month long dive course in Madagascar- I simply don't have the money, and it would be irresponsible and brash...fun though!
To that end I'm giving myself until the end of this week to think up some more modest travel plans that won't result in me living on a diet of baked beans and living in a tent throughout the medical degree!
Is there anyone else is thinking of doing some travelling, who wants to get in touch?

last night i was lost in a thunderstorm on a mountain in Rila, bulgaria. i'm pathetic: going through my head was "aww, i was looking forward to nottingham too"
as to cheap travelling, take a tent on Swiss Air to some backwater place where you'll fear for your life and sanity but live on fast food for pretty much nothing.a hole in my foot

Woo! My offer went unconditional yesterday.

Did everyone else get the email about the anatomy package? My computer wouldnt open the page last night, I'm hoping I can open it when i get home from work. Is it a bit sad that I was excited about doing anatomy over the summer? I'm sure the enthusiasm will wear off a few weeks into the course!
Its all quite scary now - unconditional offer, house sorted out, anatomy homework to do! I've even started packing stuff into boxes.
have you all got things sorted out yet?

I too got the anatomy package. I bought a special notebook to do the work in. We can be "sad" together

Hehe! I will have to get a little notebook too!!

I finally managed to get it working last night, it made me realise that there will be a hell of alot of work to do on the course! If this is the amount of stuff we have to learn before we even start the course then there must be loads more when we actually start! Now im really scared!Nottingham GEM 2009

Hi dances,
I'm sure for quite a few of us going for GAMSAT, we are hard at revision and exam practice. I know that my summer will be spent revising for THE '18th September 2009' 5.5 hour exam!
After this, lots of posts on the exam and then scores and offers/rejections, I'm sure
This is the lull before the (GAMSAT) storm

Congrats on getting into Notts, by the way.

Thanks.
I'll let you off for not posting if you're revising for gamsat, it is a scary exam. You will be glad when its over! I spent most of September revising full time - not very pleasant.
Good luck anyway, I'm sure you will ace it. I look forward to this time next year when you are nearly starting in Derby!
