Deagle - thats really helpful, thanks. i noticed the link to the scrubs society in your sig, i was just wondering if its gem friendly? it seems that there is a lot of stuff goes on in the qmc, do groups of gem students go too? is it any good?

rustyblueyez - thanks for your help/advice too.

Deagles outline is pretty accurate in terms of workload. Some people seem to get away with quite a lot less though!
Yeah get in the swing of it after the first term, just don't be afraid to change your work pattern if it's not working, a lot of people in my year kept studying the way they always had even if they weren't keeping up.

Scrubs can be hit and miss in Derby, they run some sessions on anatomy and suturing and so forth but it's difficult for them to come over to Derby all the time.
Best bet is to bitch at any 2nd + 3rd years you meet to come back and do anatomy sessions with you, was very helpful for us preparing for our end of year exams.

Be seeing you all soon for freshers.

is anyone else having trouble with the anatomy website thingy? or is it just my stupid computer? it will load sometimes but not others, i have to uninstall and then re-download/install the flash player everytime i want to open it - which is a pain!

i've tried to do it at work but there are a couple of problems with that - first is that i should be doing work in work, not anatomy!. second is that i have no sound at work so i have to use the subtitles, which is ok but not ideal. thirdly is that if anyone comes in and sees what im doing then i will look very shifty looking at the slides with the naked people on!!

Did everyone else get their basic sciences workbook in the post today? I did - its huge! Good news is that it doesnt look too intense, looks a bit easier than the stuff we had to learn for gamsat.

34 days to go - isnt that cool! This time last year most of us were stressed about sitting the gamsat and worried that we'd fail. Now were getting ready to start. Amazing!

I finally got the anatomy thing to work, i made notes on it up to the thumb - then i got bored! Ill get back to it later.

Edit - i definately dont like the new smileys! They all look like posessed little robots.

i fink theres a day at the beginning of both semesters when you can just walk into some room upstairs in the QMC med school and pick up copies of the anatomy 'andouts.

they are not bad really, but no match for a decent text.

i'll let you know when and where if you are interested, me GEP buddies.

lol i may ave to delete this post if it gets any attention.
