How much studying do you do each day/week?
Ok, this may be (another) daft question from me but I spoke to a tutor from the GEM course (she was at a mother and toddler group I go to!) and she says the best approach is to treat GEM like a 9-5 job, fitting independent study into gaps in the day.
This got me thinking about how much I might have to do in the evenings/weekends as well. How do you arrange your studying? How do you fit things around your life/family etc etc?Sam

I need to develop a better strategy for managing my workload - my previous academics prove that! I was looking at the modules for the course in year 1, from the required time for each module I worked out that I'll need to work from 9-5 plus 2 hours each day. leaving weekends free. that includes all the lectures, pbl stuff, private study etc. obviously it will be different for everyone depending on how much private study they want to do, but this is what I'm going to aim for (at least to start with).

Hi guys, current students have different approaches, some do the 9 -5 thing and only work at uni, some just do lectures and workshops and work almost exclusively at home.
I was finding it tough until I started being better organised with the gaps in our schedule, planning to have work with me to do during down time means less work to do at home. However, you can't really rule out doing evening/weekend work at home as some weeks will be very heavy with multiple workshops to prepare for.
You should still have plenty of time for a life though!

Hey, Im just going into 3rd year at notts and i'd say as long as you keep relatively up to date with lectures you should be fine. i managed to pass everything by just revising over the holidays, not recommended. Also we never get any work to hand in except for a few bits of coursework so it's really not too bad in first year. Second year steps it up a bit...
GCSEs- 8A* 2A
A Levels- AAAA
UKCAT- 650
BMAT- 19.6

Rusty, what do people do if they need any time off (illness/family etc). Is 100% attendance pretty much the norm? (I am starting to worry about a school thing I will need to attend during the day in the autumn...)
