What are you going to do before starting in September?

My excitement levels seem to be climbing to silly levels. I had my OH check today and so am officially going to be starting in September.
I just wondered what other people are doing between now and then? I have six weeks of teaching left, then am going to spend the summer enjoying my children and fitting in some antenatal teaching. I thought I should perhaps get a summer job so I can save some cash, but perhaps not...
How about you? Is anyone else silly with excitement?

Ooh, what happened in your OH check? How long did it take? Sorry, I'm being really nosey. Mines on the 23rd, I'm a bit worried about my wrist - they wont take away my offer because of a buggered up hypermobile wrist will they? I can still use it fine, it just hurts.

Anyway, I am very excited about starting in sept. everytime i think about it i get a big grin on my face and i cant believe they let me in! It's just unbelieveable that i got 57 (or 58 the other way) for my gamsat and nottingham's cut off was the lowest it's ever been, If I had applied any other year I wouldn't have stood a chance.

I'd love to be able to say that I'm off until September, but unfortunately I have to work for another 12 weeks. It woldnt be so bad if it wasnt such a boring job, or that the office i work in wasnt the hottest place on the planet (its the office above the boiler room!). But oh well, I'm comitted to staying now, I've told my boss that I'm leaving on the 28th August so that gives me a couple of weeks to sort myself out.

Clemette, when is your baby due?

The nurse just went through my form (which was fine as I have no issues) and then checked my TB jab scar. She checked my hands to make sure I don't have dermatitis and then took my blood to send of for Hepatitis screening (but said that even if I had it (!) I would be in. It only took 15 minutes.

I know what you mean about grinning!
Hope the next 12 weeks is not too stuffy,
    Sam x

PS. Sadly this pregnancy ended in miscarriage

What with studying for my OU degree alongside the GAMSAT last year, and doing my last OU course up to a couple of weeks ago, my main plan is to actually watch some telly over the next three months ! I'm working up to the 6th, but with no study alongside, it feels like I'm on holiday already.
My wife and I are also managing a couple of festivals for the first time in many years - Download, with grandparents babysitting, and then taking the kids to WOMAD in July.
BTW, regarding advanced age, worry ye not - I'm 38, 39 next week.

Hope you don't mind me offering best wishes, too, Clemette - obviously I don't know you (yet) but these forums are funny places like that, I find. Regards, anyhow.

Oddly enough I met one of the GEM teachers at a toddler group this morning (she has a 3 month old, I don't do paid work on a Monday this term). She seemed really positive and said that there were plenty of people on the course who were parents and they all manage it well.
She advised treating it just like a 9-5 job and try to fit in as much independent study into "gaps" in the day as possible.
Now I just need to sort my car-parking issue.
Thanks for all the good wishes - it has been a rollercoaster of a few months!

I'm just working back at my old job (Costa Coffee...bring on the espresso!)... only three weeks in and it's already getting tiring, however with a considerably hefty overdraft from my first degree I'm in dire need of some cash! I too am getting stupidly excited Clemette...not quite to the point of "X sleeps til GEM!!!" but I am at the "Only three months til I start...woohoo!" . And I think my boyfriend is beginning to get slightly weary of me constantly realising that in four years time we will all be doctors! (Out of interest, does that terrify anyone else?).

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I wistfully said to my husband "one day I might save someone's life", to which he replied "I bloody hope so!"
I also had a moment of childish excitement mixed with terror when I realised that one day I might have to use a defibrilator
