Sorry to burst your bubble there, but (here at least) they use the automatic ones now.....

Im terrified that one day ill have to quickly work out the right dosage of a drug to give a child and in that moment - people will realise that im not very good at math-y things and i shouldnt be a doctor!

and unfortunately, ive had to use a defibrillator twice now.

I saw one of those hospital documentaries a few weeks ago, think it was about how binge drinkers are affecting the NHS. The drunk woman came into A&E, in quite a bad way after being run over. One of the doctors was supposed to give her ketamine, but got the dose wrong and gave her 10 times too much. She had 2 cardiac arrests, but survived...I'm pretty sure they were using a manual defib on her though.

I've seen an AED used a couple of times in real life though, never trained to use one myself.

My last exam group sat their last exam today. The head teacher came up to me and said "today was the last really important day of your teaching career; you can coast now."
Just four essays to write for my NCT Diploma now.

I can also not WAIT! I must say, I am still waiting for an email or letter saying, sorry we've made a mistake. I really did not expect to get in. I started a PhD last year and applied for medicine just to go through the process so it will be easier when I reapply after I finish my PhD. I will therefore be spending the next few months trying to write my first year up as a M.Sc and training the next poor person taking over my project. Mortgage was approved for a house near the hospital this week, so it is all becoming a reality now. Wish I was there already!

Looking forward to meeting you all in September. It seems like we are going to be a very diverse group of people. Can't wait!

I saw that too. The mistake was made by one of the nurses who misunderstood/misheard the dose. However making a mistake like that is what scares me a lot too.
