Hey... dunno if I'd really count as a fresher.. but I guess I will be in Nottingham :P . I'm coming over for the child health and obstetrics/ gynaecology rotations in December. I go to Newcastle uni in Australia (finishing my 3rd year in November) and am coming over on exchange
. I can't wait! I only just found out I got in and have no clue about accommodation and things yet... but I'm sure it'll work out. There seems to be heaps of student accommodation around the uni. I was thinking about staying in one of the uni halls of residence but I'm guessing they're pretty full now yeah? Anyway, can't wait to get over there and meet everyone!

Hey Allie.
Cool that you'll be coming over, hope you have a good time over here. I'm just going into 3rd year this September, so the yeargroup you'll be joining will be the one above mine. They seem a nice yeargroup, and at least vaguely sane :P. (Any 4th years on here... that "sane" comment's not aimed directly at you, I promise!)
In terms of accommodation, yeah there's a fair bit of both uni-run and private accommodation. The basic status is that any uni accommodation which is actually ON the campuses (Uni Park, or Jubilee Campus) is catered, and then there's additional uni-run accommodation just off the campuses which are self-catered (closer to flats).
My hunch is that if you're only over for a certain amount of time, uni accommodations might be easier than private, as with private you often have to try and find people who already have a year's contract and see if they have a space for just a few months (etc). Whereas with the uni ones, especially the self-catered, they're used to people coming for less than the full year. Though that's just my hunch on it, there could be better way than that to do it privately.
I'll post the link for the uni accommodation (Nottingham Hospitality) website. There's links off that site to contact them directly.

Hope some of that vaguely helps (and isn't just random rambling about accommodation... as it now feels like to me!).

Thanks Jamie! That's really helpful, I think I will try for on campus accommodation
. Good to know the 4th years are at least 'vaguely sane', haha.
