Waiting List GEM

Hey, did anyone else out there get a place on the waiting list for the GEM course? Does anyone know what the chances of being offered a place are? Its so mean to keep people waiting like this. Apparently they can keep us waiting until the first week of term...harsh!

Hi Little Blue,
Think last year a load of people (20+?) got places from being on the waiting list so don't despair. A lot come up when people have to confirm their first choice and some over summer right up to the week before we started. Think the problem is that some people who have places accept them and drop out at the last minute and obviously the uni wants to fill all the places it can. Might be wrong, but I heard in the past they ordered the waiting list according to GAMSAT score. Good luck!

Hi folks,

I'm with you guys too! Had a mixed feeling about my interview so I guess that corresponds well with being placed in the twilight zone. Darn those ethics questions!

Anyone know when we find out the order of waiting list? I'm a 64 on the Grimsat test FYI.

Hi, I think that we can phone and find out the week before we have to make choices about where we want to go (if we are lucky enough to have a choice). I think that was the week of the May 06th, but I am not entirely sure about that...its on the letter. Are any of you waiting list people going to the open day, I don't want to, because I think that would just be cruel if I don't get in. I am not sure if it is compulsory or not though....does anyone know?

Well, good luck to you all! I'm ecstatic after the St. Georges results came out yesterday - it's my first choice so I bypass the frenzy of waiting lists and will free up my spot (if only on the waiting list) for someone else at Notts.

p.s. Am I right in thinking that if you're on the waiting list this year - you're guaranteed a place next year? If so, it's not such a bad position to be in. A year will fly by and its nice having such a good predicament to look forward to whilst not actually immersed in the pressures of medicine!
