    AS grade vagueness

The prospectus says something like "AS grades should mirror the grade requirements at A2". I'm guessing this means a/b. I have a c in history and b in critical thinking. However, I'm having my history paper remarked as the whole year did badly because of some bad marking, but I don't think I will get the results by the time I apply. If my grade doesn't go up to a b then I will retake. I have a's in chem, bio and maths AS. I was just wondering whether it's worth me applying to Nottingham. When I visited I really liked it, but I don't want to apply if my application is just going to be thrown in the bin. Any advice would be huely appreciated.

Firstly - I presume that ur teachers still have to write a section in the personal statement about you? If they do then my advice would be to get them to write in that about ur paper being re-marked. I believe they mainly look at what ur teachers predict ur A2 grades to be rather than what u actually got for AS (e.g. i got 2a's and 2b's at AS but was predicted straight A's)

Secondly - Also bear in mind the A2 requirement is only THREE subjects not the four that u have....so the history should not even be taken into account really. You need to get A in chem and another science, and a B in another subject at A2 level....to me you are definitely more than on track for that!!

If my opinion is worth anything I'd say..APPLY YOU WONT REGRET IT IF YOU GET IN!

    Hope that helps!
