Room for GEM student?

hi,

i'm new to this but just thought i'd try an effort to see if anyone out there has any ideas on accomodation for the GEM course starting september? i'm not overly keen on halls, but would be interested in living with other first years if that was possible.

i gathered that there was an open day for offered students some time back where i guess some people might have sorted some things out, but i just got accepted a few weeks back on a reserve place so there was no invite for me. i'm currently in ghana too so its not the easiest thing to try and sort out - any ideas on private accomodation would be appreciated, and ideally if some other first years had a place going in a house, then get in touch

I will be going up to Derby next week as a scouting expedition for accommodation. I will let you know any good areas/agents that I find.

I didn't go to the open day but I heard the hall rooms are very small and a bus ride away from the school.
