Campus and City
Hey everyone
Good open day on Friday, think I'm going to be hard pushed to find a med building that beats the QMC, very nice!
However, didn't get to see much of the city, and my look around the campus pretty much involved walking around the side of it in the pouring rain, so didn't see tons of the campus either! So can I ask:
What's the campus like, is there much to do there, or do people tend to go the city centre during spare time? And can anyone tell me a bit about the city centre?
Any feedback would be appreciated,
Thanks
Jamie

The campus is nice, very green. I have heard of first years who live entirely on campus and never leave it. (although i wouldn't recommend it...)
each hall has a bar and the union has a bar. There is no decent nightclub element to the union. In my opinion the union is a bit rubbish compared to the other universities i have been to.
there are several big on campus social events run through the halls through the year.
In the summer you can row boats on the lake.
Town is easy enough to get to with most students living in lenton after first year which if you wanted to you could walk into town.
Nottingham has a bad reputation as a city, but if you don't go looking for trouble you won't find it, in my opinion.

Campus is gorgeous (though not for hayfever sufferers) although after 1st year, medics hardly venture there.
Halls are good, and the social life great within them. Most people head off into Nottingham for proper nights out as the Ark isn't the best place on earth (I agree that the Union isn't brill in comparison to others I've seen)
Nottingham itself is a lovely city and well worth a visit - It's 10 mins on the bus (max) ... I walked from the QMC the other day and it was less than 30 mins. It's a manageable size. The nightlife is fab - something for everyone I would say, as is shopping.
I don't think the student areas are that bad in comparison to some other cities I've visited either. Lenton is inbetween the Uni and the City, so really convenient. Dunkirk, where I live is a bit quieter, more residential and very close to the QMC. Beeston is a fairly nice small 'town' and quite a few students live there too.Joy

Great, thanks to both of you.
