Nottingham's Widening Access to Medical School Scheme
We are a medical student run committee at Nottingham Medschool hoping to raise awareness of, and promote careers in Medicine.
The scheme is designed to help schools and their students strengthen their UCAS application, increasing their chance of success.
We visit secondary schools within the Nottingham City Border to give talks on applying to medical school, life as a medical student and doctor. Sessions can also be tailored according to the requirements of individual schools.
We also offer a 3 day funded course in the summer for 6th form students hoping to apply for medical school. This includes numerous 'lectures' and also "work experience", shadowing current Nottingham Medical students.
If you are a student, or teacher and would like to find more about how our scheme can help you, please get in touch via wams@hotmail.co.uk

Hi all,
I'm one of the 4th year medical students on the WAMS committee for this year (2008). We are currently in the process of getting all the events sorted out but just to let you know that we have organised our first information evening:
'An introduction to medicine' on thursday the 24th of April starting at 7:30 in Nottingham medical school at the Queen's Medical Centre.
This event is best for years 9-12 and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their questions too.
We will cover issues such as finance and what it is like to be a medical student and there will be medical students from most years on hand to answer your questions.
If you wish to attend can you let us know by e-mail (wams@hotmail.co.uk) so that we can anticipate numbers!
Any questions message me or e-mail the address above!Last edited by TAR!; 11-04-2008 at 01:11 PM. Reason: Incorrect e-mail address
