Interview Questions Newcastle Examples Helppp

Hey, just got an interview on the 24th november at newcastle. Thought it would be helpful for me and all other applicants if all those who have had an interview for medicine at newcastle at some stage could give a few tips.

Any examples of questions asked would be soooo helpful

I was asked pretty standard questions at my Newcastle interview. I don't remember being asked any horrible questions that I was completely stuck with how to answer. Some examples of what I was asked are why do you want to be a doctor, why Newcastle medical school, what makes a good communicator/team player, what is MMC etc. They also asked quite a few questions about what I'd put in my personal statement about work experience and the speciality that I said I was interested in.

Make sure you know what the Newcastle course involves, especially about the clinical years where you can be placed in any of the 4 base units and find out about the Family Study project which is a huge part of first year.

As above really, they asked all the standard questions that you should expect why medicine, why Newcastle, what especially do you like about the course, that sort of thing, and then followed this by asking a lot about various things mentioned in the PS, which again is pretty easy to predict and prepare for.

They also asked me one random slightly harder question, just to see how I handled thinking under pressure, which also seemed fair game really.

Nothing too hard, and nothing too mean either. Just go in and be yourself and enjoy it and you'll come across fine!

what do you think is the worst issue with the NHS atm - i got asked that...a nasty nasty question!

interview 21st same postition but b4 u i'll tell u wat its like after.

but the family prodject i think is that u observe an expecting mother from start to finish (from the open day) i think it sounded a gud thing 2 do personally.

did any1 do the tour?? I'm not sure whether i sud go as i will have to wait a couple of hours till the interview??

You and a partner are assigned to a pregnant mum who you visit 4-5 times, split between before and after the birth. You interview the mum with the aim of finding out about the biological, social and psychological factors that shape the outcomes of the pregnancy/birth, then write a big report about everything you have found out about the mum and family.

And am I right in thinking it is basicallt the process by which people choose their specialties?
