MTAS kiss my ASS!
Having messed up that stupid form that is MTAS and being sent to my 12th choice, DESPITE being in the upper quartile of my cohort and a very personable person- I resigned my post and decided to locum and reapply - with the aim of getting a ton of help in learning how to bull shit on the application form.
I applied for an FY1 post that had become available- much more prestigious than anything MTAS would have given me, had a good old fashioned interview and got the job!!!!
So MTAS your ass has just been royally kicked!

Can I ask is it a training post or a non-training FY1 post?

Yes there is. They are only open to fully registered doctors after the recruitment round is over and the Foundation Programme has experienced it's withdrawals (for examples from the Maltese students) usually in May - June, and are used to plug rota-gaps. They are recruited to locally by the Deaneries (in the way that the OP describes) and are non-training posts, often filled by overseas doctors.
I wanted to know whether the OP had received one of these posts, or had obtained a full pre-registration training post?

Yeah, usually one year fixed term posts taken up by over qualified overseas doctors who want to come and work in the NHS. Although the post involved some 'training' it is not recognised by the Deanery and means that the post-holder is no more or less eligible to apply for an FY2 year, unless through the same process of non-training posts. The post stops being recognised as a training post, and is instead changed to a service-delivery post which then requires full registration - if that makes sense?!
