Whats Northern deanary good bits
Hi all
I've got into Northern FS and been given an interview this week for Newcastle trusts - I like the place etc but know zero about the hosptials.
Does anyone know what they're good at, bad at etc or stuff that I can mention in the interview as in how many people does it cover, what facilites does it have for local patients etc.
Thanks

Your best bet is to go and see the hospitals you have applied for then you will know what they are like. Having an interview somewhere you have never been before may not be wise especially if you need to justify things. Plus everyone's opinion will probably be different.

Have a look at the Newcastle City hospitals and maybe Gateshead NHS trust websites... I would think that they would cover this sort of thing.
Good LuckSteven

Thanks
Thanks Mark, I've had a look on the trust websites but they don't seem that helpful. This is the only question I'm worrying about
Yikes tomorrow :S

I'm sure that there will be some variation between the interviews in different trusts, but in mine today there was absolutely no reference to why I had chosen the Northern Deanary, nevermind that particular trust... I suppose as long as you can tell then that you want to work up here and why, you should be ok. The population served will be somewhere in the region of 300,000 directly I would think, and a teriary centre for about 4 million, something like that.
I'm afraid I really don't know what the Newcastle city hospitals do well, since I've never been in one... all I do know is that we send transplant patients up there, and that they have tertiary referal centres for a variety of conditions (think anorexia and peuperal psychosis are two of them...).Steven

I imagine it'll go ok, I've yet to hear of an interview horror story
.
I applied to North Tees & Hartlepool, bit further away from Newcastle, but both of the hospitals are within 20 minutes of my house! Not entirely sure how it went, but with a bit of luck they'll let me have a job.
Good luck tomorrow, do tell what happens.Steven

Will do - I can tell you mine probably will be a horror story as I suck at interviews - plus my medical knowledge is jack at the minute!! Really want this job as well, except they're interviewing more ppl than jobs in the trust. Hence, I'm still up now going through interview things - such as waffley stuff, plus acute clinical care !!!!!!
ARGHHHHHHHHHH

Hey guys... had my FY1 interview yesterday@ sunderland
was intense.. and totally what i DIDNT EXPECT.
was supposed to be 20mins but i did it in mmm 10 :S sooo mmm lets see how that goes
however, i liked sunderland.. its like 15min max on the metro to newcastle and all links including 2 big airports and train connections further north or south
the city/town was nice too
and the ppl are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NICE
happy cheerful and friendly.
i even got a mini tour free from a taxi driver
mmmm the hospital is nice too.
spacious. clean and.. well the rest i will have to figure while i go along
only negative was -it was FREEZING.... i dont think ive ever been so cold.... even in -15 conditions... the north sea throws up quite a vicious wind.. which can wake u up from the deepest slumber.
hope things go well for u
