Written Communication/Task2
Hi All!
I am slowly starting to panic about the second writing task.I have tried to do it in 30 minutes but it seems impossible when there are 3 comments to consider.Am I the only one that is finding it hard?Or am I totally lost and you are only supposed to write about one? What other materials are you guys using to practice?

Hi Starla,
First of all don't panic because that will stop you from thinking straight. Firstly take a deep breath and then look at the quotes on the sample papers and note in your head what all these quotes represent! The see if you can link any of them togther, and if there is any significance to the linking.
I know it sounds awfully hard to write an essay in 30 mins but when you practice it, it will be fine, the more you practice the better you get! It is difficult at first to write an essay people don't realise that it is easy to do only with loads of PRACTICE. I sat the MSAT last year 2004 and I found the essay part quite difficult and because of that I messed up on one of the writing tasks, however don't fret! I didn't do practice essay questions etc... However when you do it seems much better. When I sat the GAMSAT I felt more prepared and I did well overall...
It is all about your study techniques and how you manage to aborsb information! There is no way to prepare yourself for part 1 and 3 of the MSAT but you can for part 2! Just practice practice practice...
If you are really stuck and need assistance I advise you to take the gradmed course for MSAT, I took the intensive gamsat course [although it is expensive] it is worth it. They provide you with excellent teaching, past papers and sample essays and questions... I hope this helps a bit! Just pray and take your time, as it is an art to be a ble to write fabulous essays in a limited amount of time...
KICK ASS IN THE MSAT.... (",)

but how do you practice??
Everyone says that practice is the key to the written part of the MSAT - but how do you practice when there aren't any past papers? Any ideas greatly appreciated!!

First things first, everyone like myself should stop stressing... To practice essay writing all you need to do is for example pick a quote [as this is what they will give you in the MSAT, the quote could be of anything] and then write a response to the quote, you could argue it, or talk about it in an argumentative manner... Also the second part of the written task is to analyse data from graphs, stats from newspapers for example and clippings of reports and you have to analyse each and try to link them togther and write a response...
Look at A'Level texts and read loads of scientific magazines.. Improve your general knowledge... That way you have a broader idea of what to write about and know in general... Hope this helps...
