50% supplement
Can someone give me some examples of the number of hours and intensity of work required for the 50% supplement band.

It depends, banding is subdivided into 1,2,3 depending on hours worked (1=<48 hours, 2=48-56 hours, 3=>56 hours) and then A,B,C depending on the out of hours intensity (A=most anti-social, B=moderately anti-social, C=reasonable).
So someone working 1A would be working 1/3rd of hours or more 'out of hours' (i.e. after 7pm and weekends) but a total of <48 hours, someone working a 2A would be working 1/3rd of hours or more 'out of hours' (i.e. after 7pm and weekends) but a total of 48-56 hours. 2B would be <1/3rd of hours out of hours, but a total of 48-56 hours a week.
Banding supplements (i.e. amount of basic salary paid on top of basic salary)
2A -80%
2B- 50%
1A-50%
1B-40%
1C-20%

Just to add...
2A and 2B will be probable not be available in many places from August onwards, as they both exceed the Aug 2009 EWTD limit for a max 48 hours per week. Some people will continue to gets these supplements in jobs that are hard to fill or where rota problems are likely - but the technical max no of hours will be 52 rather than the current 56.
