About Me

They don't look at A-levels at all just your degree (fortunately for me!), unless it hasn't got enough biology/chemistry in it, which yours will.

    Hi Zammi,
I also got a 2.1 for my degree (Zoology) although I also did a masters - however they only consider at your BSc as far as I'm aware, so that should be completely fine. You will need a good UKCAT score of at least above 650 average because they rank the UKCATs first and foremost and then select the top X amount for consideration for interview (which they then go through statements etc). It's possible that a lower UKCAT score might get to interview with a killer statement, degree etc but it would be much more unlikely. At the selection centre at Barts, most people I talked to had a UKCAT of around 700. In my application I tried to give examples of responsibilities that I had been tasked with in previous jobs/experience and what I had learned from working with vulnerable people and tried to emphasize that I had the qualities of a doctor detailed on the BMA website (really worth looking at - especially for structuring and answering questions at the interview!). I didn't put that I had wanted to be a doctor from birth, because I hadn't, instead I wrote about how my experiences academically and at work had lead me to medicine as my career choice.

Good luck with the application, let me know if you need anymore advice.
