Well, perhaps that was an exaggeration. You may have a job but a milkman also has a job. It's more about the conditions and appauling hours for appauling pay. In the past people were banded and they worked ridiculous hours and very hard. Now we are legally only allowed to work 48hrs, but we work the same. However, are paid 50% less. I sat down and worked out how much I earn...it works out at about £6 an hour for a junior doctor. Just in case you dont believe me - Im unbanded so that means I earn 1200quid a month after deductions. Thats 300quid a week for a 40hr week. (9-5 mon to fri). But i actually leave after 7pm every day. Thats 50hrs a week for 300quid. 6quid an hr. Things dont get much better when you are an FY2 and even when you are a spr or reg its not great. Money didnt mean much to me when i was 18, i just wanted to help people, now the only person i want to help is myself...to pay the bills.
how can you be so certain you wont have a job
