i know who saxon is yeah. not really friends, i just know who she is. anywho, the medical school. teaching is mainly lectures and tutorials. we also have dissection in 1st, 2nd and half of 3rd year. here you get given an anatomy workbook which guides you through exactly what you need to know. there is always lots of help available, you just need to go and ask for it.
starting in jan of 2nd year you will go on the wards every friday morning. this increases to mon-thurs in 3rd year, and almost all the time in 4th and 5th year.
examinations are all multiple choice (whoop!) and everything is examined in one big exam at the end of the year. you will have a practice one though. this sounds scary but it in fact a lot easier than seperate modules. because as you will be told a 1000 times, the body can't be separated into bits, what affects one system will affect another.
hope this helps

Hey, its Ollie, from the thread about pbl etc etc
thanks very much for your help, and i think that PBL isnt really for me, as a structured approach to things is the best way i learn, for example, the whole of AS chem from a textbook by just making notes and using curiculum!
what do u think of leeds, my sis goes there for french and eng, she is 4th yr in sept, and she likes it, but whats the medical side like, from the start it has been quite a likely choice of mine.
those figures on PBL are one of the things which has made me decide against it, but im still being open minded.
btw do u no saxon, i think she is vice president on a medics group and is in your year, she was the student at the open day spekaing with a 3rd year, cnt remember his name.
thanks again,
Ollie
