Just a typing error, was meaning to say that I got 4 As and 2 Bs at Higher, one was done in 6th year though. I was just home from the pub when I typed it.

Sounds like you don't need to worry. Work hard and play hard at uni, and you'll be fine.

    Hi,
On the Ucas form, yes I put both my secondary school results and then my predicted degree classification was part of my advisor of studies reference.

I honestly don't know what weighting each element has, but think that for graduates, the main measure of success is acheivements through uni.

To give an idea, my secondary results were: AH 2 B's Higher 4A's 2B'2. My predicted classification in Uni was always 1st class.

Remember, that it is the total points scored in the whole Ucas application that matters, and that personal statements are proportionately worth more than grades. Therefore, if your grades are disappointing, start seeking work experience to give your application a boost. Any jobs dealing with communication skills and team work. Bonus points if it is in a health care setting.

And, get involved in uni life- class rep, club member, what ever. Fill out the space in your persoan statement. Never be a pure academic.

Anyway, hope the advice helps. You probably shouldn't worry about it quite yet. Hope you have enjoyed freshers week.

    Dan

They have given us 2nd year entrants some classes to attend during freshers weeks, as well as an anatomy quiz to see how much we remember from 2nd year BMS. But, fairly certain I will be going to the pub at some point during the week! And maybe the weeks that follow.

Yes, PM any time you need advice, with med applications or with the BMS course.

Oh, and I am male, and from Fraserburgh, but going to be living in Aberdeen during the degree. My bebo is www.bebo.com/dansimpson32, that may give you more of a mind picture!

Yep, that's right. The studying may never stop. I see they are thinking about rolling out regular check ups on Doctors as well.

I am 22 now, so would be due to graduate from medicine aged 26. So, it isn't too late before I will have an income.

Start on the 22nd, as am going into 2nd year I have some catch up classes to go to for 1st week. Looking forward to it.

Hey, saw you had posted a message on my profile as Anton a while back. Appologies, I am not too familiar with NMM.

Feel free to ask any questions about BMS, and using it as a route to Medicine.

I honestly don't have any regrets about doing BMS first, even though it is a more expensive route. I was in a similar situation to yourself, didn't have the grades or subjects for medicine so ended up in BMS. Thought about trying to transfer over (not allowed anymore) but decided to complete the degree.

There are a couple times where you will maybe reconsider your career choice, but stick with it.
