  1. Hi Dan,
Was just wondering, when you came to filling out UCAS for medicine, were you required to state all the modules you did as part of your degree, along with your performance in each? And if so, where did you enter these details?/did your refree have to do it?
    Thanks,
    Gerard.
  2. thanks. I do hope i'l be fine. im joining the trampoline and football clubs, plus maybe some other societies, thers 1 or 2 that take my fancy. I just HOPE they dont take 1 look at my record and go "unreliable" or something and just dont give me a chance. that would be heartbreaking. oh well. everyone around me says not to wrry, so il just hav to get my hjead down! thanks for the talk
  3. Just a typing error, was meaning to say that I got 4 As and 2 Bs at Higher, one was done in 6th year though. I was just home from the pub when I typed it.

Sounds like you don't need to worry. Work hard and play hard at uni, and you'll be fine.
  4. sorry, was just wondering wat u meant by Higher "4A's 2B'2" ?
  5. Ok thanks. I did enjoy freshers week
My grades were Highers 5A's but 6th year 3 fails (eeeeek!) 2adv h and 1 higher.
I'm just gona try and not look back too much, my parents reckon my 6th year grades wont matter, as long as I flourish in uni (eg 2:1, extra curricular stuff, etc.) so guess I'm just gona get my head down.
  6. Hi,
On the Ucas form, yes I put both my secondary school results and then my predicted degree classification was part of my advisor of studies reference.

I honestly don't know what weighting each element has, but think that for graduates, the main measure of success is acheivements through uni.

To give an idea, my secondary results were: AH 2 B's Higher 4A's 2B'2. My predicted classification in Uni was always 1st class.

Remember, that it is the total points scored in the whole Ucas application that matters, and that personal statements are proportionately worth more than grades. Therefore, if your grades are disappointing, start seeking work experience to give your application a boost. Any jobs dealing with communication skills and team work. Bonus points if it is in a health care setting.

And, get involved in uni life- class rep, club member, what ever. Fill out the space in your persoan statement. Never be a pure academic.

Anyway, hope the advice helps. You probably shouldn't worry about it quite yet. Hope you have enjoyed freshers week.

    Dan
  7. Hi, quick question- when u came to applying, wat did u have to put on ur uas form? did u have to list school achievements, as well as ur degree stuff? im just asking because my 6th year results are sit, hoping they wont hider me..
  8. cheers mate. see u around
  9. They have given us 2nd year entrants some classes to attend during freshers weeks, as well as an anatomy quiz to see how much we remember from 2nd year BMS. But, fairly certain I will be going to the pub at some point during the week! And maybe the weeks that follow.

Yes, PM any time you need advice, with med applications or with the BMS course.

Oh, and I am male, and from Fraserburgh, but going to be living in Aberdeen during the degree. My bebo is www.bebo.com/dansimpson32, that may give you more of a mind picture!
  10. hey, hows it goin? r u bothered about the whole freshers thing, seeing as you've "been there done that" lol Im sure ul be able to squeeze a pint or two in somewhere!.. lol

seeing as we're following a similar career path, im going to bas my whole med app on ur experiences! no pressure then! lol

seriously tho is it ok if i give u a pm from time to time if i need advice. it would be much appreciated!

one more thing. are you male or female? sorry for the blunt questioning its just im trying to build a mind picture and DGS32 doesnt give much away! lol
