So your a grad right? You have some awesome way of paying tuition for 5 years courses or have you only applied for grad med. And how is clinical sciences? 6K you paid for that did you say? I think the fact your willing to do this course shows your determination and i wish they had another way alongside gamsat and uk-freaking-cat to show suitability for medicine. Don't get me wrong.. yes you need to have intelligence but there are genuine people out there who may lack the ability to perform in gamsat or ukcat but would make awesome doctors... i say this because im pants at UKCAT... UKCAT? More like UKWhat the ****.
hey francesca if you ever need to talk im here. I got rejected from Liverpool yesterday for not meeting academic requirements. Quite upset and confused because I called them before I applied to make sure I could apply but i think they're meaning to say that there are plenty of people better than me who have applied so are politely telling me to **** off lol. I live in manchester (yay) and am bengali and lived there (in bangladesh) for quite a long time. I'm waiting for 3 more responses from universities but its really got me down to start off with a rejection. I go back on my words as i told you before if medicine is what you really want then you don't need a plan B but am just thinking if i didn't get in this year then I would need a decent job to save as much as i can. Fingers crossed for Soton for you! =) I would love to get in there as financially it would be awesome.
Hey thats awesome!!!! Don't give up ever.. so what if they have studies A Levels before... means you'll have to work hard but you can do it.. And I heard that course is for people who dont have the traditional science A Levels but apparently its meant to be full of people who actually have done it already like you said unsuccessful med school applicants? I didnt take the GAMSAT as southampton dont require it and the rest of my schools are 5 year courses. 6K is a lot of money but it will look great on your app Good luck for GAMSAT. Have you considered finding a GAMSAT buddy?
Hey hope your ok! Yeah I think you should go for it!! If you need any help with anything message me I can help you with researching med courses as I have spent hours researching!! Im applying to Liverpool, Leeds (5 Year) St Andrews (6 Year) and Soton (4 Year). I know thousands apply to Soton because of the requirements but I pray I got in there just so I don't have to give away my life savings in tuition fees whilst living on instant noodles and baked beans for how every many years!! But this is my second cycle of applications. Last year by February I had been rejected by all four of my choices. This year apart from being acknowledged and my grade transcripts being requested I have heard no further. Have you looked into Bradford clinical sciences/ Medicine Year 0? Good luck x
And appologies NMM wouldn't let me post my message as one as it was too long!
Yes it's wise to have a plan B but if medicine is all you wanna do then hell you'll find a way. There are pre-med course to consider aswell such as Lancaster's pre-medical studies option. Do your research and don't give up hope. Im unaware of your financial situation but if money's flowing then consider the 5 year courses. Everything will be ok... you might not be at the school of preference but Medicine as competitive as it is I belive as applicants, most are chosen by the medical schools with a handful who have the option to choose the school they wish. Good luck. Message me if you need to talk.=)
They don't use GAMSAT nor UKCAT and your experience as a HCA will look awesome. So just to recap there are some straight talking people here who might not intend to but can really get you down. I'd say a first class degree in any subject shows intelligence. This year is my second cycle of applying and I havent heard anything back yet. I know what it feels likes to struggle with entrance exams as my UKCAT is awesome or anything. Consider all your options.
Hey just read your post... there are other options like schools that dont require the Gamsat. Dont get your hopes down. I know people who got into medical school after the 4th cycle of applying so there is hope! Liverpool for example have a 4 year GEP.
Wow, just read your post. Good luck mate!
