  1. Thanks Edeldee for the reply. I plan on applying to St Andrew's, Edinburgh, imperial and warwick.

Andrew's and edinburgh because they place weight on A levels and IGCSE's and I have done very well in those.

Imperial is because it will be a luxury for me to get in there and warwick because I heard an international like me at Manchester uni, studying Biochemistry got in....so May be I can do it too.

    Any comments will be appreciated.
  2. Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I only saw the message there now.

Well, I got a 1st in my degree, but at the time of offers it was a predicted 2.1 or higher, as I had not yet recieved my final grade, so having a 2.1/1st didnt seem to matter, as long as I was firmly in that bracket.

My overal percentage was 71% if I recall, but that doesnt matter to the med schools, they just want the classification. So if you have a 2.1 then fair play, Id say you will be ok.

Both Barts and Dundee are very much into the personal statement, it carries a huge weight. So it depends what your extra currics are, and your work experience etc. Also pull out all the stops on the UKCAT for that extra points scoring edge when it comes to application time.

Where do you intend to apply?

If you have any more questions dont hesitate to drop me a line.

    All The Best,

    E.
  3. dear edeldee

What class did you get for your degree?

I got a 2.1 in biochemistry from uni of manc

Got good A levels not sure if that will help. My degree % is 63%, is that going to place me at disadvantage?!

I heard that you need a first to be competitive, is that true?

would appreciate your insight as from your profile I can see you have had offers including Barts! good job!
