Hmmm well I found A levels conceptually harder there's just a lot more to learn but if you can do A levels you're clever enough to do medicine! In the first term I didn't do anywork (apart from this seminar thing we had to d a presentation for), and when I say I didn't do anything I actually didn't do anything! Lol! It was awesome! But come the christmas holidays it was a nightmare cos there's a lot of stuff to learn in 4 weeks and our exams started straight away after the holidays! Worse week of my life, we had an exam everyday that week, including saturday! :-S But then we did get a week off to recover which was nice! The term we've just finished (as in friday!) was harder but waaaay more interesting! You start doing dissection in january and have these mini exams every week on them at the end of your dissection so you have to keep on top of stuff with that but it's not too bad. I've never really felt overworked, the first term especially you can get away with just enjoying yourself! :-D

Yeah Hugh Stewart is really nice (though it is Cripps' rival hall, grrr!) there's an old bit to hugh stu which is lovely and a horrible council looking bit so it'll just be luck of the draw which bit u end up in! Lenton and wortley is also a really nice hall and that's also one of the closest to the QMC. I didn't get my room when i applied to cripps (which is why u have to put more than one option) but i emailed and aksed if they had anything in cripps n they gave me a cheaper room which is in this tiny block at the back of cripps. Dunno why I'm telling u this! lol! Basically where ever you end up you'll have a great time and people are really nice! Have you got your A levels or are u working at them now?

Oh and also the food in catered isn't too bad! You get some funny days but mostly it's pretty good and meal times are really good fun! I normally spend about an hour in the dining hall with my friends just chatting drinking hot chocomilk, it's a really nice environment! Plus you save so much time than if you had to cook for yourself and shop for yourself so it's just an easier transition from home I found!

I would DEFINITELY reccomend catered!!! You get to meet so many more people and get a really quick walk to the QMC! Most internationals go in the self catered cos you don't have to move out in hols so if that's a problem for you then obviosuly self catered would be better. With catered you get a pick of 12 halls over campus, each hall contains from 200-300 people and you'll pretty much get a chance to meet all of them so get a much wider mix of friends. You'd probably end up having your block friends and your medic friends if you go catered, with self catered you just normally get your flat mates and medics and your sort of stuck with your flatmates where as in halls it doesn't matter if your friends aren't in your block cos they'll just be a few seconds away! Like for me my main friends are the medics in my hall (Cripps) and then the people from cripps who are involved in the christian union. I don't talk to my block all that much but there are so many people so close that it's never been an issue for me. Man I'm rambling! I know when I was applying for accomodation I wish someone had told me more about it cos I felt like I didn't know anything but I ended up in a really great hall! With regards to what sort of room you'd want if you went catered there are lots of different types. The single study rooms which are one of the cheapest are pretty good. You just share a bathroom with 5 other people and I've only ever had to wait for the bathroom twice! There's a much more university feel on catered cos you live right in the uni, also it feels SO safe and the campus is really pretty :-) If you want any more adivce I'm happy to help!
    xx
