yeh i suppose its only a year and a break from the long journey ahead may do us good. I dont think ill apply to kings now (after some further research and risk assesment lol) and St georges has also posed some doubt due to the number of applicants they interview, i mean as a gap year student i think im pretty strong so why waste a choice on somewhere that basically hands out interviews right. Which leaves me with BARTS, now i think i really like this place but im not sure if a 650 UKCAT average is high enough? Also you applied there last year so do you know of any specific tings they looks for?
No i dont mind you asking at all, i got reject becuase of a lack of caring experience/community involvement. Ill definetly take your advice about kings and st georges on board but the only thing is ive been reading on the kings website and the forums that they look at you as a whole, personal statement ,ukcat, grades etc for the 5 year course but then are quite harsh for the graduate entry in terms of UKCAT, again im still deciding so well see what i go for. im doing exactly the same in my gap year, part time job as a care assistant in a residential home for most of the year. Im also going to america this october for 3 weks to shadow my uncle as hes a gp there. Im gonna conintue to volunteer in A and E at my local hospital and also volunteer in a chinese medicine store for the year. Oh and im taking a first aid course soon. So yeh im doing quite abit so it should work out this year. Just about the St Geurges interview how was it? were they harsh, ask sciency questions? I just think that we were both unlucky last year cus my UKCAT went down as well from around 640 to 600.
That's a really wide spread of university's! Just wondering, since you applied to kings and barts, do you live in london? I dont mind saying which Uni's i applied to, it were: Cardiff, Oxford, Nottingham and of course, Birmingham! Arrgh 2 weeks on sat till i move in! eeek!
Thanks, I was so surprised when I got my offer through! It till feels a bit weird sometimes! Don't worry, I was nervous throughout my application, well, especially after October 15, I checked track everyday! so, where else are you applying too?
Hey girl how are you?
hey, thanks for the add. Hows it going? Are you preparing to apply for 2009 entry? If so, good luck! all the best to you!
im not a medical student yet. im starting this October go on their website. the prospectus tells you exactly what they look for in a candidate. i found it very helpful when writing my PS.
