Yes, manchester is very notorious for most sort of crimes.

As for knife defence, if you are forced to stand and fight, or at the very least, fight a knife wielding attacker, unless you are very lucky, or the guy is too drunk to stand, you WILL get stabbed or cut, you may take him down eventually, but not before you get a wound to remember him by. The mentality of most such attackers will not be to chase you, they just wont be bothered to run that far, and will either seek a new target or, more likely, wonder off back to the pub.

Dr Mayhem, i know some people who would take real exception to you saying you WILL get cut if you stand up to a knife opponent.

I know a few people who have defended (and given the attackerwhat for) without getting cut, it depends a lot on the mind set and abilities of the attacker.
They may well chase you it really depends on the reaosn they pulled the knife... was it to intimidate you into backing down? then they may let you go.... was it to rob you or assault you? then running will activate the prey response which makes them mor elikley to chase you.

Most lowlifes who use a knife to rob you, are not really into chasing someone, as you said, it depends on the situation - if your 20 stone, i wouldnt advise running, but if you CAN get away, do so.

As for those who 'would take real exception to you saying you WILL get cut', I will happily watch them get cut up and laugh, for that sort of gung ho hollywood movie mindset. (I would then treat them for their injuries lol)

I am very confident in my abilities, and one on one, or even against 2 attackers, I will stand up and defend myself, if one of them pulls a knife, I will not try any of my 'Knife defences', the 99% chance that you will get cut in the first 5 seconds is not good odds, not matter who you are, Chuck.

Pay attention.

Dr Mayhem i think you need to pay attention to what i am saying... "without being too graphic"

I know several people who have talken on multiple opponents some with knives and won... without being cut.
Now this is a shit situation and should not be recoomended but i know some guys who would take exception as its worked for them!

How do you run away if your a doorman/ policeman/ military cop/ body guard.

these are the sort of people i am talking about, listen to them and you may get a bit of a more rounded view.
Evasion and escape are the first line defence but in reality there are a whole raft of people who cannot do this for whatever reason... i.e. the guy you bump into in the crouwded pub who decideds to take a knife out.

Oh i paid attention, the guy defending the knife is shit, bad knife defence typical TMA stuff.

If you want some links PM me... i thin i cuold open your eyes a little bit.

Also i thin kyou need to reevaluate your views if you wuold laugh at someone who gets cut up defending a knife attack, seen it not pretty.

Plus I'm over 20 stone... admittedly i'm 6'5 and pretty built but what do you recommend for me? run?

Oh and before you answer its ok my personal record if 5 guys v me... i won a couple of them ended up in hospital after i defended myself against the broken bottle they had just used on my friend was turend on me.
