Hurrah other diving medics!! Well I'm not saying that this is the best diving you could ever do but if you are looking for an excellent group of people to dive with you can't go wrong with DIVE COLLEGE LANZAROTE in Playa Blanca. I've dived with them 3 times and have done most courses there too. Rescue diver now, was gonna do Divemaster if my A levels didn't work out....suppose Ill have to wait till next summer now...Notts here i come

One NOT to go to in the UK is Portland. I used to like diving on The Hood but that's no longer possible due to it being very unsafe. The staff try to fob you off with other dives but not really worth putting up with, alongside bad organisation/safety issues. They've had several very close shaves these last two summers. If you're thinking of that area Plymouth's HMS Scylla is fantastic as are the people.

Anyone done any diving around the Norfolk area at all? Not been since moving down here and only just started looking into it again. Much rather somewhere lovely and warm but no pennies at the moment unfortunately. Was considering rescue diver but I'm only an ickle girly and a friend of mine who is similar strength and size found it really tough going - any opinions from those who've done it? Also, what 1st aid qualifications do they accept do you know?

Hiya,

I have just done my rescue diver and I'm not very big myself. it is hard work, but not impossible and really good fun. It has made me much more confident about my diving ability, its definately worth doing. I think they accept most first aid qualifications, not sure my self though as I had emergency first response.

I've done my PADI rescue diver as well and the only time I was hindered by my own tiiny size (read: lack of muscles!) was when we were doing lifts out of the water and carrying people up the beach. That was tough! Make sure to get paired with someone just as small.

I've given up diving since going to uni because a) no money to spend on it b) can't be bothered to transfer to BSAC c) waay too cold in the sea here.
In conclusion, i'm waiting for my parents to take me on holiday to somewhere nice!

Best diving: Red sea is amazing and thailand wasn't bad either (on the other side from where the tsunami struck.)

It's nice to see so many diving medics out there!
