If anyones still bothered the judo club at manchester is very good. its coached by a guy that used to coach the british disabled olympic team and there's at least 3 or 4 people who currently compete at international level that go.

Great thanks ... unfortunately I've already made my applications but thanks for the reply! Do you know what the coach is called or who the people at international level are? Thanks!! Hannah

thats the website for the club, im afraid i dont know the second names of any of the international players but theres girl whos in the GB youth team (vicky) alex who used to fight for Ghana (don't know if he still does, Mirriam who fought for France and a couple of others. Pullan also coaches an elite club at urmston and i think a few more go there too.

Ahh that sounds so cool, I've always wanted to take up a martial art

Sorry if this sounds amazingly basic but what's the main difference between all the martial arts?

the types of martial art vary hugely some are purely grappling such as judo, some almost all striking like karate, ju jitsu ivolves both, some also do defences against weapons, teaching you how to use weapons (everything from a bottle to nun chucks or a sword). Some are more practically applicaple than others to real world self defence. There are also variations in the style of a particular martial art with emphasis placed on different things. What martial art someone does is dependent on what they want to get out of it, whether its keeping/getting fit, learning self defence, fighting in competitions or any other reason people get involved.
