Parkour- Urban Freerunning

I have just begun this 'sport' and already i have realised it is not meerly jumping from roof to roof, but a discipline. Its being self aware, and opens experiances you would never have thought your body could with stand.

I also feel that in the dense cities of the universities we will or have all attended it is ideal. I like to think of Parkour as an art, it is amazing to watch like a dance routine and everyone experiances it. Taking a short cut over a small wall or jumping a gate, this is parkour and so the headstart is there, there is already something to work upon.

Have a look for yourself..
..and why not try it?

parkour is ace, been training with a team in london doing acrobatics mixed with martial arts, myself i'm a muay thai boxer, but these guys mix tae kwon do with mad flips and tricks, its so fun, great to get into if u have a "what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger" attitude!

I discovered Parkour through Tricking sites. I'm currently conditioning for both Tricking and Parkour. Oh and Freerunning and Parkour are two different things. I used to think they were the same. Parkour is, to put it dryly, getting from A to B as fast as possible. Freerunning includes the flips and tricks, both of which take up time and are therefore not the fastest ways to get from A to B.

Thought it was the other way around? And that parkour is the pretentious form of freerunning.

Did freerunning for a while. Had to give up cos of my job but it's good fun all right Took me a long time to learn the basic vault though cos apparently when I jump I kick my feet behind. So my coach stuck a chair in front of me and made me keep jumping up on to that until I got it right.

Hehe, nope. Not the other way around.

I'm practicing the landing and the rolls, but I'm mostly focussed on conditioning (weight training, cardio etc.)

You had to give it up because of your job? How about the weekends? It definitely is deliciously fun!

It looks good fun but I doubt I'd ever try it... knowing how clumsy I am I'd probably break my neck if I tried something like that. I'll stick to running lol.
