oh get real you silly part time man u fan.
wat, you mean all your important mathc winners wayne rooney, rio ferdinand, heinze, alan smith, ruud van nostril, fabien barthez, ronaldo, dwight yorke, jaap stam, diego forlan, veron, andy cole, roy keane, pallister, etc. all locals aye.

half of those were record signings too. Thats like one a year at least!

granted you've had some youth team successes but so has every club, and for Manu they are far outweighed by your ventures on the market.
There is owever some argument for saying that the roots of your early success was laid down by a team built on british players, which has deabatable merits.
Face it, Manu are Chelski's long lost god-uncle until someone Roman came along and started outbidding you.

silly? maybe- part timer - no way.
the point is we didnt go an make all of these signings in one season, we obviously as any team we invested some money on bring in world class players but this was then backed up by success- the treble in 99 which was mainly thanks to the development of the youth team, giggsy, beckham, butt, scholesy, phil nev. an gary nev. to name a few.
how many youth team players do u see at chavski?

dont get me wrong im not begrudging them success, its that by nxt season they'll b so ahead of every1 else that the whole excitment of the will be gone, an no im not sayin that just bcoz united arent challenging them, no one else is, even if arsenal or liverpool did it would atleast keep the league exciting.

oh an let me guess your a man city fan?

i'll let sumone else do the figures on the current team -

Giggs - Academy
Ronaldo - Bought for £12.5m from Sporting Lisbon
Ji-Sung Park - Bought from PSV for ???
Scholes - Academy
Rooney - Bought from Everton for £27m
Van Nistelrooy - Bought from PSV for £19m
So that's 3 out of 11 of United's first team (and Scholes hardly played last season).
And on the bench:
Tim Howard, bought to replace Barthez (bought) who was signed to replace Taibi (bought).
Evra - Bought (£5.5m)
Vidic - Bought (£7m)
Saha - Bought (£11m)
Alan Smith - Bought (£7m)

whislt i accept that point compared to chelsea, it 'ardly puts united apart from any other club in england, it really puts you in the same category as Chelsea.
Besides, Sheringham wuz the decisive player in that final, along with a incredible slice of luck, despite 'aving a team wurth at least four times wat Bayern's wuz worth. The Cup was easily going to Bayern Munich until that last extremely fortituous brace in the last few minutes. So no, it wasnt down to the youth team especially at all, though they did play their individual parts i'm sure.

disect any team an you'll find that there are mainly players bought, look at aresenal, henry- £11 mill and well worth it. reyes - £17 mill. rising to £24 based on success and app., hleb- £10 mill, rosicky- around £13 mill and then theres tottenham who have spent more than arsenal over the last couple of years, so stregnthening your team with a few additions here and there every season is what happens at every top 5 team, but to buy a whole new squad season apon season - what chelsea are doing is leaving every 1 else with a mini league of their own for 2nd 3rd an 4th finish. In fact in some way making the relegation dog-fight more interestin than wat goes on at the top of the table.
just takes the joy outa the premier league IMO.
