Airsoft/Paintball

This is a bit of an odd one. I havent heard of many other uni's having a society for this or many people actually really into the sport.

Any1 else out there with me?

I'd be into a bit of running around shooting paint at fellow medics - George's newest sports society???

I know Queen Mary has a paintballing society or a regular bunch who goes. This discussing isn't limited to medics only, just wondering whether there were a bunch of a like-minded people on the forum. Come to think of it, it's kinda ironic being a medic and loving paintballing/airsofting....lol

leo2004 - you'd never know lol. Of course you can shoot the medics but then you'll have to revive them etc etc

Ok I know this thread is 'old' but I did start it and therefore I have the power to revive it. As for the time of this post, it's the weekend :P

St.George's UoL managed to raise a total of £180 from a highly successful paintballing event this festive "RAG" season. It was both a fun and memorable day. It ended on a spectacular high with a massive +80 people shoot out on a speedball arena the size of a 5-a-side football pitch. It was amazing!

________________

So, does anyone else play paintball or airsoft? I realise that many of you have deep dark desires to join in the sport but is often too shy or have difficulty finding fellow players. I can formally say, St.George's definately have a keen group of people who have at least experienced paintball. It'll be interesting to see more people getting involved in airsofting though. It's certainly cheaper in the long run. Also Imperial College has an airsoft society + a forum found here - http://hostedboard.com/?mforum=icaboard

Airsoft is similar to paintball but is not as commonly known. For those who are unaware of airsoft, I invite you to read below:

1) http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filn...isairsoft.html

2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft

Oh for those who are worried after reading the above...
1) I'm not crazy
2) no they're not real
3) paintball hurts more

Much love,

JH

What format was your tourney? Sup-air?
Dont know if you have a paintball club at your uni but there is a paintball sup-air style league (cup) and day-long championship. The championship was first run last year with Birmingham uni winning, this year the cup was won by Coventry Uni (the final against Birmingham was fab). The next Cup is at Keele on saturday (17th March) - sorry i think the entries are already in.
The information is on the UKPSF website (google UKPSF university and you can find the forums). If you're into paintball competitions and interested in competing against other uni's i'd recommend it.
Site wise this year D7s (Dartford) and Snetterton were used, and the universities involved were (i think) uea, aberdeen, aberwistwith (sorry can't spell), birmingham, coventry, teeside, and another one that i can't think of.

Next year there is talk of having 'starter events' for uni clubs to be able to break into the scene - but i'm unsure.

Sorry if this is nothing to the sort of thing you were interested in, but i've had a great season 'pot b*tching'/'pit crew managing' for my old uni (Birmingham) - unforunatly i can't play competition as my uni doesn't compete :-s (still i get to play rec-ball and a bit of tourney style). Thoroughly recommend it though :-)

Have you ever tried re-ball? It's paintball using paintball markers and reusable balls (you can also get velcro ones), supposed to be fun, and i can't wait to have a go!
