Just thought I'd mention that there is a boat club at Exeter University (theres plain ol' Exeter Rowing Club as well). We see them around at head races and regattas a bit!

Both Exeter and Plymouth unis have boat clubs, exeter being the larger of the two. As mentioned before Exeter as a 'city' club as well as Plymouth - but Plymouth is tide dependant. Most universities have rowing clubs, so it's easier to ask about specific universities. I think (and i'm sure someone would correct me on this) that the only medical school with its own boat club is St Georges.

That is incorrect i'm afraid.
Royal Free and University College has their own boat club, as does ICSM and Barts.
GKT 'technically' runs a boat club of it's own - but only for UH races, for the rest of the time they are part of KCLBC.
So all London medical schools have their own medic-specific boat club. Georges, RUMS and ICSM row out of the UL Boathouse in Chiswick, GKT from the Kings boathouse at Tideway Scullers, Barts on the Docklands.

correct, macca.
the difference lies in travelling times to boat club or sports grounds.
at some unis you carry your kit less than 50 yard to get to the field or the practice lake.
At others you 'ike your kit alf a mile, then pay for 'alf an 'our train travel, then play/canoe/row, then pay to travel back again, then trudge back alf a mile......
thats a difference hehe!"...reminds me of childhood memories,

Thank you for correcting me Londoner, and now with knowing that london unis have their own medics rowing i wish even more i'd ended up in london! Oh well, if nothing else i've got a good coach who's trying to find me a better stretch of water!

well the only downside to most uni rowing clubs is that they dont offer sculling only rowing
ive been sculling since i was 11 so i think i'll miss it
but i've got another 3 whole years yet lol
Has any1 joined a rowing club in the actual town or city rather than at uni?
