molly, if nothing else i know there is a med school with their own rowing team (can't remember who) but i'm sure i saw them at either BUSA or eights head.

    good summer on the water?
I saw them at BUSA and THINK it might be RFUCMS ... not sure though. I haven't rowed since May!!!!!!!!!! Withdrawal symptoms aplenty! I did however discover Newquay Rowing Club last week and went for a nosey but no one was about. I was so excited I had to have my picture taken right by it ... sad or what!

You may have seen St. Georges Hospital Boat Club at BUSA...
Otherwise known as St. George's, UL - or St. George's London... Or St. George's Medics... whatever they felt like calling us!

All of the london medical schools have their own separate boat club though.

Is there time to row and study medicine simultaneously?

Speaking with guys and girls at some of the uni.s it doesn't appear that there is?

Anyone managed to row throughout their degree. I am really keen to carry back on having rowed at HORR 3 times whilst at Durham with lots of heads and regatta's thrown in. Bring on the ergo's and lycra...

    Much appreciate anyone's thoughts..

I know someone who rowed all the way through his five year degree, and another friend who is into her fourth year and is still rowing (and womens captain this year).

My plan is to join and see how it goes, if it gets too much you can always cut training down to what is most efficient. But then i prefer being busy, so it suits me better that way!

I know three people from our club who somehow managed to row all the way through the six years of their degree... one was men's captain in his third and fourth year, and VP in his final year... another was men's captain in his BSc and third year, and VP in his fourth year...

I've just signed up for rowing at Freshers' Fair without really understanding how much time I would have to commit and handed over my £40. It's something like 6 hours of water work a week plus gym time but that includes two early mornings and an afternoon (I think) - and there is no minibus or anything to get us to the boat club so basically I am screwed Very disappointed as I love rowing so much. I need to get my £40 back too.

Plus, there was a swim session last night for the safety thing and I didn't go. Apparently we were only meant to wear swimsuits, but who rows in a swimsuit?!

Lol we got to do our capsize drill in a swimming pool wearing swimming goggles! At least we were in proper kit, but who wears goggles rowing?! The point we managed to put across is that we weren't planning on going in so it shouldn't matter if we wear them to practise!

Mollymouse, have you looked at if there are any town clubs near where you're at uni? I'm sure nottingham has one, and it may not be as pressured timewise (and more understanding when you're busy).

Hmm... we don't ask for club subs until well into the second term on the grounds that some people just might not enjoy it enough - we prefer people to catch the rowing bug first before they start parting with cash!

Nottingham I recall has a reasonably good club - i'm sure I remember them from men's head this year?
